I am in the process of moving my studio space. We are desperate need for more space,so we're renovating the basement, and my space will be moved to the other side. The house we live in is rather old(circa 1860's) so the basement area is rather sprawling with 3 separate rooms. The down side is that I will now be working in the unheated side.Th upside is that I've had a chance to really clean out a shit-load of junk.I used to work in ceramic tile,so copious amounts of shitty tiles and ceramics are gone.I hope to start a new piece by next week.My goal was 3 new pieces by May 1st,and I think that I'll be lucky to get to 2.
I want the student work to be excellent,so that is my priority. The art fair will be the second week of May,no exceptions. The Boston Home show is the 20th,so I 'll have just enough time to get the student work up,judged, matted and into the BH.
I want the focus to be on my students' work.My pieces never sell at BH,but the kids' work does.My asking price is too high, but I'm not under-pricing to simply sell something.Besides,it's not about selling the work,it's making something beautiful. It always has and always will be.This I do for me.
